To All NorthSteppe Realty Tenants:
Tragedy struck our community last weekend. A
campus house fire caused by arson claimed the lives of five people and
injured three others. This tragedy gives us all cause to review safety
steps and procedures.
We urge all tenants in the campus area to
take this occasion to thoughly review all smoke detectors and exits at
their properties. Smoke detectors should be inspected and tested each
month to ensure that the device is working properly and the battery is
fully charged. All exits must be accessible and not blocked or
rendered unusable in an emergency.
City of Columbus Code prohibits the use of
any couches, overstuffed chairs or any flammable furniture on any
porch. If you have such furniture on your porch please remove
immediately.
Please notify maintenance immediately (614)
617-6900 if you find any smoke detector or fire control device not
working properly. Tenants are responsible to maintain and replace
batteries that are not charged. NorthSteppe will repair or replace any
device that fails to operate properly.
Together we can hopefully prevent another
such tragedy.
